As we reach the end of a challenging year, I find myself thinking about the good and the bad of 2021, reflecting on things I’m proud of and looking towards the many new possibilities 2022 holds. Creatively, personally, and professionally.
Over the last year, one of the things I am proudest of is my return to writing. As I turned 40 last year, I made the important decision to return to writing in the form of this blog. As we near the end of 2021, between the diverse voices of many wonderful guest contributors and myself, today’s blog story number is 48.
As I’ve mentioned, there are times blog stories are planned over several weeks, and others when someone or something inspires me and in turn influences that week’s post. As I read back through stories from the last few weeks, it’s not a coincidence that the themes include the importance of living the story you want to tell, bringing people together, and the power of both kindness and gratitude.
In fact, these themes exist in some form within every one of those 48 stories and are also some of the most important themes within my story - who I authentically am, how I live my life and how I choose to lead. As I’ve been starting to plan blog stories for 2022, I know these themes will continue to feature, as they also will in some new projects I’m excited to tell you all about soon.
So, final thoughts for this year. Thank you to each of you for reading the stories of my guest contributors and my writing, for reaching out to us with such kind comments, and for taking topics we write about and expanding that dialogue with people in your life.
And so, here are two final questions for 2021 and an invitation.
- What are you proudest of from 2021, personally and/or professionally?
- What are some of your “themes” that have emerged this year, and what do they tell you about possible directions for your 2022?
Have an idea for a blog story? Something you feel called to write about? A lesson you’ve learned you want to share with others? Would love to hear your thoughts here.
